Dr. John Lange, fondly called “Doc” by his students, has been a business owner, consultant, businessman, coach, fly fishing guide and instructor, superintendent of schools, and high school principal. He also served as Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Director of Vocational/Technical Education for Arizona. His private- sector work experience included Ford Motor Company, General Motors Corporation (Chevrolet Division), owner of a retail sporting goods store, Purex Corporation, and Principal Partner of a municipal leasing company.
John has been recognized by VH-1 TV for the National School Administrator “Save The Music Award”, The Jewel of the Community Award (Colorado), Citizen of the Year Award (Colorado), numerous Governor’s and State Awards (Michigan, Colorado and Arizona), The American Association of School Administrators Award, among others. He has been invited to testify before the United States Congress Education Committee on the importance and impact of federal aid and vocational education.
He attended Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan, and Arizona State University. He was awarded a BBA in Marketing/Finance, an MA in Business and Education, and a PhD in Education Administration and Supervision. He was a member of the Eastern Michigan Football Team and competed as an amateur hockey player in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Lange has served on a number of boards, including the State Board of Directors for Community Colleges of Arizona, America West Airlines Foundation Board, The Arizona Academic Decathlon Board, National Alliance of High Schools Advisory Board, Arizona Jobs Training Council, Arizona Alliance of Business Board of Directors, and the Colorado Avalanche Professional Hockey Team Advisory Board.
His hobbies include hiking, biking, fly fishing, photography, and travel. He has been married to his lovely wife Diane for twenty-six years. He has two daughters, a stepson, and five grandchildren.
