He served as Lions’ president five times in 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007, 2017 and he asked not to be reelected until 2027. His current involvement with the Lions includes coordinating donations of new and recycled glasses for mission trips.
Serge served on the committee that formed the Sedona Oak Creek School District, and served as the District’s liaison to the AZ legislature.
Serge joined Sedona 30 in 1997 and currently serves on the Grants Committee and as Vice President. He served on the Sedona Chamber of Commerce Board from 1980 to 1982. He received the Good Morning Sedona award for Outstanding Contribution to the community of Sedona. Also, he was made an honorary member of Sedona Bell Rock Kiwanis for community service. He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award by Lions International.
In 2008 Serge was selected Arizona’s Optometrist of the Year. He served on the Board of Directors for VSP, the nation’s largest vision care committee, from 2000 to 2004, and since 2005 he has served as VSP’s AZ Representative.
